非英语专业学生的内、外向性格特征与英语学习策略的相关性研究

从上世纪70年代以来,第二语言教与学领域的研究的重点已由对最佳教学法的研究转移到了对学习者特征及其对二语习得影响的研究。受这一转移的影响,越来越多的学者对学习者个体差异进行了实证研究,其中学习策略和学习者的性格也受到格外关注。根据Rod Ellis(1994)的二语习得模式,学习者个体差异和各种环境因素一起决定了学习者对学习策略的选择,并通过学习策略来影响二语习得的速度及成绩。影响外语学习策略使用的因素有两大类:学习者个体差异和环境因素,其中性格因素就是一个很重要的个体因素。而目前国内外关于学习者的性格因素对二语习得影响的研究大多还局限在其对二语学习成绩的影响上。国外已经展开了对性格影响学习策略使用方面的研究,并有一定成果,如Oxford, Ehrman,等等。但国内对这方面的研究还不多,且大多以高中学生为研究对象。相关文献表明以大学非英语专业学生为研究对象,关于这方面的实证研究,在质和量两个方面仍有待于进一步的提高。因此,本文旨在研究中国大学生的内外向性格特征与英语学习策略之间关系。本研究应用了艾森克人格问卷简式量表(EPQ-RSC)和语言学习策略问卷(SILL),对300名来自江西某大学非英语专业大三学生进行了问卷调查。对被试者按其内外向值的分数(均转换成T值)进行了分类:外向组,中间组,和内向组。利用SPSS13.00统计软件对两张问卷的数据进行了分析,其结果表明:1)学生的内外向性格倾向与认知策略,社会策略和总的策略呈正相关性。2)单因素方差分析和多重比较分析表明外向型学习者使用认知策略的频率,特别是练习策略要明显高于内向型学习者。3)此外,在模仿发音,自我鼓励等10个具体策略上,外向型学习者使用的频率要高于内向型学习者。本文在对以上研究结果进行了讨论后,对该领域未来的研究及目前大学英语教学提出了一些建议,指出外语教师应深入了解学生的内外向性格倾向,加强对学生进行学习策略培训,培养学生的策略意识及应用策略解决问题的能力,帮助他们培养一些有利于外语学习的性格。
