英汉衔接手段异同比较及对翻译的启示

论文摘要

衔接是一个语义概念,它是语篇的重要特征,它可以使各语言成分组成一个有机的整体。衔接手段包括照应、省略、替代、连接和词汇衔接等。英汉两种语言属于不同的语言体系,衔接手段的使用也不尽相同。对衔接手段的忽视会造成译文的晦涩甚至误译。因此在语篇翻译中,译者必须正确运用衔接来理解原文,兼顾原语和目的语在衔接方面的差异,运用恰当的翻译策略来传达原文的整体意义,创造出一个符合目的语使用规则的译文。本文以韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理论为依据,通过对大量例句的分析,着重探讨了英汉衔接手段的差异及在翻译当中的应用,结论如下:在英语语篇中,照应,替代和连接词的使用多于汉语语篇;而汉语语篇在省略和重复的使用上多于英语语篇。鉴于此,在英汉互译的过程中,只有对衔接手段进行适当调整,如采用保留、增补、减词和变通等方法,才能使译文较忠实、准确地传达原文的信息和实现交际意图。
