概念隐喻在大学英语词汇教学中应用的实证研究

概念隐喻理论认为隐喻既是一种普遍的语言现象,又是人类不可缺少的认知工具。Lakoff&Johnson的概念隐喻理论认为隐喻普遍存在于人类的语言中,是人们思维、行为和表达思想的一种系统方式,是人类用其某一领域的经验来说明或理解另一类领域经验的认知活动。许多隐喻词语都与概念隐喻密切相关,而人类的体验在很大程度上是相似的,这就为词汇教学等外语教学提供了新的视角。本研究基于Lakoff提出的概念隐喻理论,就我国大学层次的英语词汇教学中融入概念隐喻知识对英语学习者的英语词汇学习效果这一问题进行的实证研究。本实验包括学前测试,课堂教学和学后测试。受试者是某大学一年级两个自然班的74名学生,其中一个为实验班,另一个为控制班。本实验对实验班进行了英语词汇分析和概念隐喻知识的介绍,培养其隐喻意识。对控制班受试没有介绍概念隐喻的知识,只是采用一般的方法教学,即直接告知词汇的意义并辅以例句,或通过例句对词汇的意义先进行推测,再做进一步讲解。通过对比组间和组内两组受试者英语词汇学习效果的差异,检测概念隐喻理论和英语词汇教学相结合对中国EFL学习者英语词汇习得的有效性和可行性。研究发现,概念隐喻能促进学习者理解和掌握词汇的隐喻含义,概念隐喻词汇学习法是系统有效的学习隐喻词汇的方法;概念隐喻词汇学习法在受试的短时记忆和长时记忆词汇上优于重复机械记忆等传统的词汇学习法。综上所述,本论文提出了一些关于隐喻研究对外语教学,尤其是词汇教学的建议供教师和学生参考,使其在教和学到过程中能有效的利用概念隐喻,提供词汇学习效率。总的来说,在中国通过隐喻开展英语词汇教学符合外语教学的发展趋势,无论是教师还是学生都应给予重视。
