关联理论关照下的中国古诗意象翻译

论文摘要

意象乃诗歌的灵魂,精炼隽永的语言会将读者引入一个广阔的艺术遐想空间。意象不但包括视觉意象,也包括我们从其他感觉器官所获得的各种具体意向,同时还包含了与具体意向相关的,但更为抽象的认知概念,其实质是主观情谊与客观物景交相呼应,创造“象外之意,意在言外”的无限空间,有强烈的艺术感染力。由于不同的文化背景,不同的思维方式和审美角度,意象翻译在诗歌翻译中占据极其重要的位置。在翻译过程中,如何考量译者的作用,在面临不同文化背景下的意象时,译者本身如何把握分寸,这些都是棘手而又复杂的具体问题。读者对意象的理解也是诗歌理解的重要部分,对于外来文化中的意象,读者会如何把客观事物与作者情感联系起来,本国文化语境是如何干扰了他的事实理解,又怎样能通过翻译在这两者之间取得平衡,这些都是很多理论上没有得到恰当解释的地方。关联理论是由Sperber & Wilson基于语言哲学、认知心理学、交际学、人类行为学等多学科提出的,并且将语用学的重点转移到了认知理论上,是认知语用学的基础。它所关注的核心问题是自然语言的交际与认知,强调人的认知在语言使用中的作用,认为“人们根据人类认知假设去理解话语,而人类认知假设的条件是相关原则,即根据相关的信息认识事物。”整个过程通过推理逐步实现。翻译作为一种频繁的人类活动,被关联理论视为一种语用行为,一种语际间的交际活动,一种与大脑机制密切联系的认知─推理过程。因此,作为旨在解释交际活动的认知语用学理论,关联理论从一开始就对翻译具有了解释力。本文旨在探讨诗歌意象翻译的相关性,并运用中西诗学和关联理论,对中国古诗意象进行不同层面的剖析。重点运用关联理论中语境观,最佳关联等概念分析了中国诗歌中的意象翻译,按照语境的相似程度把意象分为相同或类似语境,不同或相反语境,以及无对等语境三种,分类探讨了如何在诗歌翻译中寻找最佳关联,传达意象的隐义,分析了人类理解文本方式的特点,得出翻译是个延绵不断地寻找挖掘文本含义的过程的结论。同时也探讨论证了相关理论中“认知语境”与“最佳关联”等概念的解释力。
