从翻译对等的角度对比《围城》及其英译中的衔接手段

近年来,语言学研究的重点逐渐从句子转移到了语篇的层面上,篇章语言学有了很大的发展。人们从而趋向于把语篇作为翻译单位来进行翻译研究。而衔接作为篇章组成的重要手段开始引起越来越多的语言学家的重视,其中,韩礼德对衔接现象的理论建设做出了最大的贡献。在《英语的衔接》(1976)一书中,韩礼德对英语中的衔接现象作了详细的划分和阐述,他把英语的衔接手段分为五大类:照应、替代、省略、连接与词汇衔接。由于韩礼德对衔接现象的透彻分析和详尽解释,这一理论得到了广泛的认可。在中国,一些学者把它应用到了对汉语的研究中,并取得了一定成果。“翻译对等”是翻译理论和实践中最有争议的课题之一。本文认为,由于中西文化差异及中英文两种语言本身的差别,翻译中完全的对等往往很难达到。正如奈达所说,绝对的对等很难达到,最大和最小的对等也不易描述,最重要的是原文与译文是否最大可能地具有相同的交流功能。而很多中文译文的欧化和英文译文的中化很大程度上是由于忽略了英汉衔接手段的差异造成的。本文的创新之处在于从翻译对等的角度、运用大量实例对比分析了英汉两种语言在衔接手段上的相似点及差异性,探讨了英汉衔接手段互译的对等问题。本文认为,译者在翻译过程中意识到英汉两种语言衔接手段的差异有助于使译文在意义上最大程度地与原文对等,又符合译入语读者的欣赏习惯。
