论文摘要: 第二语言习得中,动机是影响学生成绩的一个重要因素。越来越多的学者从不同的角度研究动机、定义动机并按不同标准对动机进行分类。如Gardner和Lambert将动机分为融入型动机和工具型动机。Deci和Ryan也将动机分为内在动机和外在动机。在这两种分类的基础上,一种新的分类应运而生,即将动机分为内部动机和外部动机。内部动机可进一步分为兴趣,成就,责任,寻求学习机会和自我完善;外部动机可进一步分为奖励或惩罚,功用价值,群体态度和压力。 为了深入了解中国中学生的学习动机,作者在本市的第48中学做了一次问卷调查,从该校的一千多名学生中抽出179名学生作为此次调查的对象。作者以高一虹(2003)的问卷为蓝本,并根据中学生的实际情况进行了修改,设计了问卷(包括36个问题),并将它与学生访谈(12名学生)结合起来。调查结果显示:1)内部动机与外部动机的九小类型均存在于中学生的学习中;学生的内部动机在英语学习过程中产生的积极影响远远大于外部动机;2)总体来说,中学生的学习动机从初一到初三呈下降趋势;3)不同语言水平的学生有着不同的动机强度:好学生的内在动机强于差学生,而差学生的外在压力大于好学生;4)男生的学习兴趣总体上弱于女生,且男生成绩总体上比女生差。因此中学的英语教师应该准备合适的英语课程,使用多样的教学手段去提升学生动机,提高学生英语水平。 本次动机研究的创新之处在于它不同于以往研究中将大学生作为动机研究对象的做法,其参与者全是中学生;另外本文对动机的再分类也具有一定的教学价值。
