流行歌曲英汉语码转换初探 ——以顺应理论为基础

语码转换,即两种或多种语言变体的转换,是语言接触和跨文化交际中的一个普遍现象。自20世纪70年代以来,这一现象引起了众多专家学者的广泛关注。然而,对歌词中语码转换现象的研究却鲜有人涉及。歌词,尤其是流行歌曲的歌词,作为语言的形式之一,也随着社会和文化的发展日趋成为语码转换的一种特殊载体。众所周知,语码转换不可避免地会影响到语言的使用和变异,考虑到语码转换的这一深远影响,对中文流行歌曲中语码转换现象的研究不仅很有意义,而且很有必要。本文以Jef Verschueren(1999)的语言顺应论和于国栋(2001)的语言顺应性模式为理论基础,从语用学的角度来分析中文流行歌曲中汉英语码转换这一现象。所谓顺应,指的是语言使用者从可供选择的不同语码中做出灵活的选择,从而达到成功交际的目的。本文中,歌词作者将语码转换作为一种语言选择和语言策略,用它来实现交流的目的及其他功能。本研究的意图主要有两点:一是分析中文流行歌曲中汉英语码转换的结构特征;二是从语用学的角度探讨歌词作者在歌词中运用语码转换的动因及其所实现的语用功能。就方法而言,本文运用定性、定量相结合的研究方法,从而使本研究更为科学和全面。通过具体的数据分析,汉英语码转换的结构特征被清晰地呈现出来。研究表明:一、就语言单位而言,中文流行歌曲中汉英语码转换所涉及的语言单位具有很大的多样性,如字母(或字母组合)、单词、短语、句子和段落等语言成分均以不同的频率出现其中。二、就结构类型而言,句内语码转换、句间语码转换和附加句转换均以不同的频率出现。从顺应论的角度,本文探讨了歌词作者在歌词中进行语码转换的动因。研究表明中文流行歌曲歌词中出现语码转换主要是由于歌词作者对语言现实、流行歌曲的特点和社会规约进行的顺应。在顺应过程中,语码转换所实现的语用功能也得到体现。这些功能主要包括:填补词汇空缺、回避禁忌、追求时尚、创造异国情调、提供方便等。本文从语用学的角度,运用定性与定量相结合的方法研究中文流行歌曲歌词中的汉英语码转换现象,希望能对歌词创作和欣赏带来一定启示,同时进一步检验语用学理论对语言现象的解释力。
