论文摘要
林语堂是中国近代一位蜚声海内外的文学家和翻译家。除了一系列用英文所著的作品之外,其在翻译上的成就也是不可忽视的。与同时代的其他中国翻译家相比,林语堂的翻译自有其鲜明的特点。林语堂深受西方文化的浸染和中国传统文化的熏陶,形成了独特的人生哲学和文化观。他强调“忠实、通顺、美”的标准,“传神”的原则,归化和异化交替使用的翻译策略,使得体现其翻译标准和原则的翻译实践得以实现。译者主体性是指作为翻译主体的译者在尊重翻译对象的前提下,为实现翻译目的而在翻译活动中表现出的主观能动性,其基本特征是翻译主体自觉的文化意识、人文品格和文化、审美创造性。该文通过以林语堂先生翻译的《浮生六记》作为个案研究,试图纠正长久以来人们对译者地位的错误看法。同时作者结合译者主体性理论和大量举例,意图探究译者主体性在林语堂先生翻译的《浮生六记》中的应用及体现。译者主体性也会影响翻译策略。林语堂选择最能体现中国文化的中国古典文学作品进行翻译,例如《浮生六记》,并且他巧妙的采用归化异化策略以达到将中国文化传播到西方的目的。作者希望通过对林语堂翻译思想的研究,促使人们更加关注林语堂在翻译方面所取得的成就。本文分为四章。第一章介绍并评价了原作《浮生六记》及作者沈复,译者林语堂,还指出了研究林译《浮生六记》的重要性,现状及局限性。第二章简单介绍了林语堂的翻译思想,并指出其在林译《浮生六记》中的应用。第三章分析了传统与当代翻译理论对译者地位的不同看法,给译者的主体性下了定义,并以林译《浮生六记》为个案研究,详细说明了译者的主体性在选择原文、翻译过程、翻译目的及态度上的体现。第四章归纳了归化异化翻译策略的定义、影响等,着重从文化、语言学角度研究了其在林译本中的体现并从归化异化的角度对林语堂和布莱克的两个译本进行了比较。
