从接受理论视角谈文学翻译的不确定性 ——以《荷塘月色》的两个英译本为例

论文摘要

接受理论,作为一种文学批评方法,是一个以读者为中心的理论。姚斯和伊瑟尔是这个领域著名的两位理论家。根据伽达默尔的“视野”说,姚斯提出了“期待视野”这一概念,并用这个概念来阐释不同时期的读者如何解读文学作品。根据英伽登的“图式化结构”这一观点,伊瑟尔提出了文学文本中的“召唤结构”概念。文学文本中的召唤结构是由空白和未定点构成的。接受理论为翻译研究提供了一个全新的视角。接受理论认为文学文本充满了空白和未定点,文本意义并不存在于文本本身,而是在读者和文本的相互交流中产生的。通过创造性地使用文学语言,文学作品给读者呈现了一个充满了模糊性、空白和含蓄性的审美世界。在这个世界中,读者在自身期待视野的基础上来参与文本意义的构建。每位读者都会在自身期待视野的基础上,根据自己的理解来填充空白和未定点。因此对于同一文本,不同读者会挖掘出不同的潜在意义。本论文从接受理论角度,通过对《荷塘月色》的两个英译本进行对比研究,来探讨文学翻译的不确定性。由于文学文本中的召唤结构体现在语音层、语义层、句法层、意象层、心理因素五个层面,所以本研究是从这五个方面进行的。通过深入分析,本研究发现因为从接受理论来看,文学翻译就是译者基于自身的期待视野与文本召唤结构之间互动交流的结果,译者会用各自的方式来完成这个互动交流,所以这个交流的结果具有不确定性。而且,根据接受理论,是读者的阅读接受才让文学作品获得了生命。所以在文学翻译中,译者应该给译语读者提供适当的想象和参与空间。因此,本研究建议译者应该从这五个层面重建召唤结构来满足译语读者的审美需求。此外,从本研究中还得出了一些启示,即在文学翻译中存在有不可译性、创造性叛逆和两种文化之间的竞赛。文学翻译,真正意义上是一个创造性的审美艺术再现,其结果具有不确定性。因此,在翻译文学作品时,译者应该发挥创造性在译本中重建召唤结构,以便于在目的语读者中产生和源语读者相应的审美反应。
