本研究旨在调查中国英语学习者(二语受试)和母语者(一语受试)心理词汇结构方面的差异。该研究试图揭示这种差异究竟体现在以下哪方:质的模式、量的模式,亦或二者皆有体现。本研究使用的调查工具为:结合了词汇深度知识测试的词汇联想测试。29名英语专业的大三学生及29名以英语为母语的一语受试参加了实验。结果表明:就熟悉词汇而言,二语受试组与一语受试组不存在质的模式上的显著差异,而是存在量的模式上的显著差异,该差异具体体现在以下三个方面:(1)数量方面,二语受试所给出的联想词在数量上远远少于一语受试给出的联想词;(2)趋同性方面,二语受试给出的联想词的趋同性明显低于一语受试给出的联想词;(3)多样性方面,二语受试给出的联想词的多样性明显少于一语受试给出的联想词。最后作者将本研究的结果与其他相关研究得出的结论做了比较,并对外语教学及今后二语心理词汇研究提出了建设性意见,提出了本文的不足之处及今后研究的努力方向。
