功能理论关照下的文学翻译

论文摘要

本文试图将德国功能派翻译理论运用到文学翻译研究中,并通过对《红楼梦》两个英译本的分析来论述其在文学翻译中的重要性及可行性。基于功能翻译理论,文章将尝试探讨目的论在文学翻译中的作用,进而研究其如何指导文学翻译。功能主义(functionalism)是一个广义的术语,它包含各种通过源文本和译本的功能来研究翻译的理论。目的论(Skopostheorie)在其发展过程中起着主要的作用。一些批评家经常质疑功能理论对于文学翻译的适用性,认为功能翻译理论仅适用于一些实用题材的文本,诸如说明、广告、新闻等类型文本的翻译。为了清楚阐述功能翻译理论也适合于文学翻译,本文首先回顾了关于文学翻译的各种理论和特征,然后引入了功能翻译理论,并探讨了将之用于文学翻译的可行途径。本文通过从功能理论的角度对比分析《红楼梦》的两个英译本,希望能够帮助读者认识功能翻译理论在文学翻译中的重要性,以期从功能翻译理论的角度更好地进行文学翻译。本文的主要目的不在于指出哪种具体的翻译方法更好,而是想通过对比《红楼梦》的两个译本来证明翻译的目的在翻译行为中起着重要的指导作用,功能翻译理论也同样适合文学翻译。
