探究性别和英语水平对非英语专业大学生英语学习策略使用的影响

论文摘要

在过去三十年中,二语习得领域的研究重点已从“如何教”转变为“如何学”。学习策略也因此而成为一个热门话题。研究者们纷纷对优秀语言学习者的学习策略使用情况以及影响学习策略使用的因素进行探讨。本文主要探讨我国非英语专业学生学习策略使用情况。主要包括以下几方面的研究:中国非英语专业学生的策略使用频率;男女生在策略使用上是否存在显著性差异;学生的成绩对学习策略使用的影响。为回答这些问题,本研究共邀请了210名大二非英语专业学生参与问卷调查。问卷内容主要包括学生个人信息,四级成绩和学习策略量表(Oxford, 1990)。所有学生被分为三组。问卷数据使用社会学统计软件SPSS11.0,分别运用描述性统计学、独立样本T检验、单项方差分析和相关性分析的统计学方法分析。和其他相关研究不同的是,这份研究在分析和讨论结果时采用的是MacIntyre (1994)提出的社会心理学模型以从一个新的角度看问题。本研究得出的主要结果有:(1)学生的策略使用水平出于中等水平,其中补偿策略使用最多,而记忆策略使用最少。(2)男女学生在策略使用上存在显著性差异。女学生使用元认知策略和情感策略比男学生多。(3)英语高水平学生比低水平学生更多地使用元认知和认知策略。根据MacIntyre (1994)提出的社会心理学模型,本研究在解释结果时考虑了诸多因素:中国独特的文化教育背景,任务要求,情境,学能,态度,动机,学习风格和自信。这样研究结果更完整、全面。本研究结果为英语教学提供了一些启示:教师在教学中首先要注意到学生的策略使用差异并采取相应的措施满足不同学生的要求,如选择不同的教学材料和不同的教学方法。其次,必须提高学生使用学习策略的意识,以培养他们的自主学习能力。最后,教师也应在实际语言运用中教学生如何正确使用学习策略。这样显得自然而有效,并且最终达到提高英语水平的效果。
