从德国功能派理论看武术术语的翻译

论文摘要

在全球化的背景下,中国正不遗余力的向世界介绍自己,推广自己。中国武术是中国文化的精髓所在,在全球化的浪潮中也已经走出国门,而且中国人民也计划更高质量和更大批量的把中国武术介绍到国外。翻译是武术对外传播的第一步,而武术的术语翻译又是武术翻译的第一步。本文试图引用德国功能派的相关理论来探讨中—英武术术语的翻译问题。德国功能派突出了文本功能的重要性,提出翻译是有目的性的行为,这一目的决定翻译者采取什么样的翻译策略,(如:纪实翻译或工具翻译)去实现翻译委托人的某种目的。例如:译文是要满足目的语读者的要求还是传播原语文化,或是要求两者兼顾。作者注意到如果在不同目的指导下进行武术术语翻译,会得出不同的译本和随之而来的不同性质的影响。例如:从对外武术教学的目的上讲,翻译既要反映武术术语所描述动作的客观规律,又要在一定程度上满足学员对武术术语所负载的文化的好奇。从纯技术层面的参考书籍为目的的武术术语翻译,则要求翻译以方便目的语文化读者的理解为主。从政治层面上讲,武术概念的对外传播能从文化与体育层面更加增强中国对世界的影响,这就要求部分术语翻译必须保留源语的文化附载。作者认为武术术语在功能派的指导下翻译得出的译本应该有有目的的倾向性,并就此提出自己的翻译策略。由于武术术语的博大精深,对此的翻译设计到方方面面的因素。文本中的是从翻译学的一个侧面探讨这一问题。所以本文目的不在于对武术术语翻译提出一个终极的解决方案。而只是从翻译功能派的角度提出作者对此的见解,希望对以后的此类研究提供有价值的参考。
