模糊语言在汉英翻译中的审美处理 ——《边城》两英译本的对比分析

翻译是一项品尝遗憾的事业。由于语言、文化、历史以及语言美学生成机制方面存在巨大差异,译者往往只能独享原文之美,而要成功地在译文中再现原文之美有时简直束手无策。这种遗憾在处理模糊语言翻译方面尤为凸现。作为语言的重要特征之一,模糊性在不同语言中审美地位也不相同,这对模糊语言翻译无疑是一种挑战。国内外学者在模糊语言及其翻译研究方面作了许多富有成效的工作,他们针对模糊语言的特征主要从接受美学、格式塔心理学和符号学美学等视角进行了研究。但鲜有学者从主体间性视角探讨模糊语言翻译的处理,本文在国内外现有研究成果的基础上,试从主体间性视角对语言模糊性在汉译英中的处理进行探讨。本文首先简略界定了模糊的定义、产生的原因以及常见的表现形式,接着详细介绍了模糊语言的美学功效并从不同视角分析其美感特征与美感产生的原因。再接下来作者尝试性地从主体间性视角探讨了模糊语言翻译的处理以及模糊美感保留与磨蚀的原因。主体间性理论在翻译中主要强调各翻译主体之间的关系对翻译产生的作用。本文通过主体间性理论探讨在翻译过程中各主体之间的交流对模糊美感的保留所起的作用。在此基础上作者从翻译主体间性视角对比分析了《边城》两译本中模糊语言的处理。作者首先从修辞和非修辞角度例举了《边城》中几种常见的模糊语言表现形式,并分析了这些模糊语言对增强《边城》的整体美、意境美、形象美和音韵美等起到的一定的作用。接下来作者简略探讨了《边城》两英译本中模糊语言在翻译过程中美感保留和磨蚀的情况并由此得出对模糊语言翻译的点滴启示,即:人们在探讨因语言差异导致模糊美感磨蚀的问题时,往往将更多地归因于历史典故、文化壁垒,而对其内在的原因------民族心理原型差异研究较少。事实上,模糊美感在翻译过程中磨蚀更多地由英汉语的审美差异以及英汉语民族心理原型差异等方面导致。
