“伦理”是一种道德准则或行为规范,它产生于人与人、人与社会的相互关系之中;翻译作为一种建立在平等对话基础上的跨文化,跨语言的交流活动,自然需要伦理的束缚和制约。上世纪八九十年代,解构主义语言学翻译观过分夸大他者的权威,过分强调译者的目的性,从而破坏了翻译的平等对话原则,影响了文化的正常传播。这时对于翻译中道德准则和行为规范,也就是翻译伦理的研究,就显得尤为重要。二十世纪末,西方研究者开始并逐渐深入了对翻译伦理的研究。其中安德鲁·切斯特曼提出五种翻译伦理研究模式:再现的伦理、服务的伦理、交际的伦理、规范的伦理和承诺的伦理。作为一种特殊的文学形式,话剧剧本既包含了小说,诗歌,散文等文学体裁的特点,又拥有台词这一独特的语言形式;既要具有可读性,也要具有可表演性。这对话剧剧本的翻译提出了很高的要求:译文既要表达原文的意思,传达原文中包含的文化因素,又要能够朗朗上口,能够被译文读者或观众理解和接受,最大限度地体现原文的艺术魅力。中文话剧的英译对于传播中国文化有着积极的作用,因此研究话剧的翻译是极其必要的。用翻译伦理重新审视话剧的翻译,将翻译伦理的五个模式引入话剧英译的评价当中,是话剧翻译研究的一个新的视角。本文在回顾翻译伦理相关理论,并讨论运用其分析话剧译本的必要性的基础上,运用翻译伦理的五个模式对话剧《茶馆》的两个英译本进行比较,从翻译伦理的角度考察了话剧英译中出现的问题,并由此提出中文话剧英译的策略:话剧翻译者必须忠于原文的意义、文化和语言形式;要了解观众或译文读者的需要,根据不同的读者选择不同的翻译方法,一本多译;语言形式上要在符合原文语言风格的范围内尽量口语化以满足舞台表演的需要。
