论意识形态对政论体文献翻译的操控 ——以《中共十七大报告》英译稿为例

二十世纪九十年代,伴随着翻译研究的文化转向,意识形态对于翻译行为的影响受到越来越多的学者关注,政论体文献作为意识形态的集中反映,其翻译不可避免的受到意识形态的影响,这种影响体现在主流意识形态对翻译目的及翻译策略的操控之上。翻译不是在真空中进行的,而是两种文化语境下进行的,译者作用于特定时间的特定文化中,他们对自己的文化的理解是影响他们翻译的因素之一。翻译是改写,是创造一个文本形象的形式,不论其意图如何,都反映了某种意识形态和诗学。当我们把关注的重心转到译入语文化后,我们就会注意到在译入语文化语境下翻译与权利,与意识形态,与翻译赞助人,与诗学观念的关系。意识形态决定了译者的策略,也决定了他对原文中语言和论域有关问题的处理方法。本文着重探讨意识形态对政论体文献翻译的操控和影响,以中共十七大报告英文译稿的翻译实践为个案研究,把翻译置于具体的政治、意识形态和社会文化背景之中。在中共十七大报告的英译过程中,为让译入语读者全面、客观、公正地理解原语文献中的政治观点,译者有意向译入语输出原语主流意识形态或采取某种方式顺应译入语的主流意识形态。我国的政论体文献在宣传中国政府在政治、经济、社会、外交等方面的立场和观点中发挥了重要的作用。党和国家领导人在公开场合的讲话或者报告是汉语政论体文献的典型代表。这些政论体文献的翻译通常具有重大意义。然而,汉语政论体文献的英译文常被指责带有中式英语的痕迹,即在词汇、句法、构词方式等方面明显受到汉语的影响。政论体文献英译是对外宣传的重要途径,它的宗旨是如何避免中式英语,如何使译文语言更加地道,让译文受众者在摄取信息的过程中不遇到障碍,明确无误地理解和把握译文所传递的信息。
