中美语言教学硕士论文英文摘要中词块对比研究

论文摘要

本文旨在找出中美语言教学类硕士论文英文摘要中词块使用的不同,为教学提供建议。词块是由多词组成的,可以独立用于构成句子或者话语,可以实现一定语法、语篇或语用功能的最小的形式和意义的结合体(马广惠,2011)。可以说词块是综合“形式”和“功能”的联合体,能很好地利用中国外语教学两种重要方法(交际法和结构法)的长处而又能避免各自的缺陷。鉴于词块理论在语言学习中的很多优势,20世纪90年代以来,国内外学者开始着眼于运用该理论指导英语听、说、读、写教学,但很少有人尝试把它和硕士学位论文摘要相结合进行对比分析。本研究试图填补这一空缺以指导国内学位论文摘要写作。首先,作者分别从PQDD (ProQuest Digital Dissertation)及CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure)硕士论文数据库各检索出30篇英文摘要,并将其分成A、B两组。然后,以J. Nattinger & J. Decarrico的词块理论为框架,利用SPSS软件分析中美语言教学类硕士论文英文摘要中词块的使用数量和频率,并进一步分析差异存在的原因,探究词块与摘要写作之间的关系。最后,总结该研究结果对中国研究生英文摘要写作的启示。研究结果表明:(1)中美硕士论文摘要在词块使用上确实存在差异,且这些差异不仅存在于每种词块所占的比例方面,而且存在于他们的使用频率方面。(2)美国本族语者在摘要中使用与研究主题密切相关的句子组构词块来陈述研究目的,表达研究内容等;而中国英语学习者更倾向于使用短语架构词块。由此可见,一方面,中国硕士研究生往往借助常见的短语架构词块,组成合乎语法的句子;美国研究生则更多的使用句子组构词块直接呈现与研究目的、研究过程、研究结果相关的内容,摘要显得结构合理,简洁而又连贯,体现了其对语言运用的流利程度。另一方面,中国硕士研究生在摘要写作时,喜欢加入背景知识以帮助读者更好地理解论文的重要性和必要性。
