本文试图探讨省略在同声传译过程中的出现情况,试图解释省略在同声传译中出现的原因,从而试图证明省略在同声传译过程中是一种较为有效的翻译策略。对于翻译研究者及翻译实践者来说,省略一词并不陌生,省略是普遍存在于人类自然语言之中的一种现象。它在人类的语言交际中发挥着非常重要的作用。人类从很久以前就已经注意到了语言中的省略现象并开始对其加以研究。迄今为止,人们已经从句法方面、语用方面对语言省略的结构和功能进行了比较深入的研究。过去,在同声传译的质量评估中,省略常常被视为错误,等同于信息的遗漏或删除。然而,近年来有研究者发现,在以译员为桥梁的双语交流中,“完全转述(“saying it all”)”的翻译策略并不成功,甚至是不实际的。从同声传译的实践中,作者本人也体会到,“完全转述”的策略在同声传译中不是完全可行的。本文中,作者从同声传译这一翻译活动的特点及特殊性入手,回顾了以往学者对省略的研究认识,并试图总结出了作者对省略的描述,试图阐释同声传译是一种以译员为中介的特殊的双语交际活动,其本质是交际,因而从交际的目的来讲,“完全转述”也是无必要的。通过介绍在双语交际中,认知负荷模式对译员---紧迫时间限制下的多任务处理者,脑力及心理机制的约束,试图对为什么要在同声传译中进行省略作出解释;通过一个观察性研究,归纳出省略在同声传译中出现的具体情况。通过此研究,作者希望证明在同声传译中,省略是一种有效的翻译策略,应该在同声传译实践及教学中得到重视及积极正确的应用。
