批判性阅读在专业英语阅读教学中的应用

对于学习二语或外语的学生来说,阅读是听、说、读、写四种语言技能中最重要的一种。因此,外语教师应该特别注重阅读教学方法,以此来提高学生的阅读能力。然而,阅读是一个极其复杂的过程。在过去的几十年中,许多学者都从心理学、语言学和心理语言学的角度对阅读理论和教学模式进行了研究,从而希望帮助外语教师和学习者提高他们的教学和学习。以教学模式的研究为例,主要有自下而上、自上而下和交互模式三种。近年来,随着语言教学研究的发展,中国的外语阅读教学已经取得了很大的进步,但还存在着很多问题,特别是英语专业的阅读教学。近年来,批判性阅读模式倍受关注,国内外学者对它的研究也越来越多。批判性阅读基于心理学中的批判性思维理论,它主要强调在阅读过程中,学习者不仅要理解文章内容,分析全文的结构,总结主题思想,更要注重判断、分析和评价作者的观点、论证过程、写作目的和语气,以此来形成自己对某个问题的看法。本研究将主要从批判性思维的角度来关注英语专业学生的阅读能力问题。与以往研究不同,本文着重强调在外语阅读教学中批判性阅读对阅读理解的重要性。在下文中,我们将通过实证性研究来考察批判性阅读教学模式对学生的策略意识和阅读能力的影响,以及学生对批判性阅读教学的满意度。本研究在兰州城市学院外语系英语专业二年级的精读课中进行,共一学期。研究对象选自该年级的两个自然班,每班38人,其中一个班为实验班,另一个班为控制班。作者在实验班进行批判性阅读教学并对学生进行批判性阅读策略的培训,在控制班则采用常规的教学方式。实验结果表明:批判性阅读策略培训可以提高学生应用策略的频率和意识;批判性阅读可以提高学生的阅读能力和议论文的写作能力,显著程度大于常规教学方式;学生对批判性阅读教学的满意度较高。基于以上研究结果,在外语专业阅读教学中我们应注重通过批判性阅读教学以及对学生进行批判性阅读策略培训来促进他们英语阅读能力的提高。本文共分为六部分。文章首先介绍研究背景和本研究的重要性,其次是文献综述,简要介绍外语阅读教学目前的发展和研究成果。第三部分为理论基础,介绍批判性思维理论及批判性阅读。第四部分为研究设计。第五部分为数据分析。最后一部分是讨论和结论部分。
