隐喻研究具有十分悠久的历史,最早可追溯到古希腊亚里斯多德关于隐喻的阐述。尽管有少数研究者已经注意到语法隐喻的存在,以往的隐喻研究绝大多数却都局限于隐喻在词汇层面的体现,而隐喻在语法层面的体现则很少被讨论。另一方面,二语写作的研究在国外受到越来越多学者的关注。词汇特征和句法复杂性、语篇的衔接与连贯成为他们研究二语写作的主要方面。虽然在国外己有一些学者专门谈论过写作中的词汇运用,但是全面的从语法隐喻的角度着手的学者不多,国内这方面的研究更少。鉴于此,本文从韩礼德的系统功能语法的角度对语法隐喻现象进行分析,进一步揭示语法隐喻的性质及其在写作中的价值。本文在全面回顾语法隐喻相关理论的基础上,对中国高校学生英语写作中存在的问题进行研究,并归纳出其中哪些是由语法隐喻知识缺失造成的。基于两者的关系,本文提出了语法隐喻教学策略的建议,并通过实证研究验证了语法隐喻对写作的影响及其教学策略的效果。研究的结果表明,学习语法隐喻之后,学生在写作方面取得较大进步。最后,本文提出了几点运用阅读教学提高学生对语法隐喻的掌控能力的建议,以期对外语教学有所帮助。
