词汇重复模式对语篇连贯的研究

连贯是语篇的特征之一,是判断语篇性的重要标准,是语篇分析中的焦点问题。由于连贯概念本身的复杂性,目前语言学界对连贯的阐释与理解尚无形成系统的标准和方法,但语篇连贯的研究在近20多年来仍然获得了很大的发展。有的语言学家从衔接的角度出发,认为语篇的连贯依赖于语篇外在的标记形式；有的认为连贯依赖于读者或听者对语篇所做的连贯假设；有的认为连贯不在于外在语篇的连贯,而是内在语篇的心理连贯,是一个交际双方心理互动或协调的过程。本论文认为连贯是一个多层次性的概念,它是可以体现于语义层面、语用层面、心理层面、认知层面等各个层面的综合。简单地说,连贯是指交际双方依据语篇所呈现的语言层次上的连贯和语言外层次上的连惯所达成的统一,是双方达成交际的协商,是一个可以进行主客观分析的过程。如果一个语篇在这两个方面的分析中都呈现连贯的特征,那么该语篇就是连贯的。因此本文拟以Hoey的词汇模式理论为依托,对语篇连贯做一些研究工作。本文所提出的词汇重复模式适用于非叙述性的各种体裁的英语语篇的研究工作。该词汇重复模式不仅仅包括传统的简单的词形上的重复,意即,简单词汇复现,它也包括复杂词汇重复、简单释义、复杂释义、其他复杂释义、替代、同指照应、省略。这种词汇重复模式理论,以句子为单位,用定量的方式考察语篇的的词汇重复连接模式。它通过先找出语篇中重复的词汇,绘制重复矩形图,并利用得到的词汇重复联结网络来解释语篇连贯。除了延续Hoey的词汇模式对于语篇连贯的客观、定量地分析以外,该模式还将会着重论述词汇的重复网络如何有效建构读者心理上的连贯,从而协助读者快速、准确地掌握语篇的连贯线索,实现双方所期待的交际。全文共分为六章。第一章主要介绍本文的研究背景,理论基础、意义和重要性以及语料的来源。第二章进行语篇连贯研究的回顾,对国内外在本课题领域的研究现状进行简要介绍和评论,并提出本文主张的连贯实质和条件。第三章介绍词汇重复模式与衔接的关系,指出词汇衔接是衔接手段中最为积极有效的手段,并简要介绍词汇重复模式的形成过程。第四章论述词汇重复模式理论中的词汇重复的关键概念、分类、机制,并提出了词汇重复模式的连贯观点。第五章利用词汇重复模式对实际例子进行主客观分析,并分别解释语篇的语言层次上和语言层次外的连贯。第六章结论部分作为整篇论文的总结,指出所取得的进展并指出本研究的局限性以及今后可以继续深入探讨的问题。
