从人格心理学角度论译者主体性 ——林译《浮生六记》个案分析

论文摘要

随着翻译理论研究的发展和人文主义的复苏,近年来翻译界掀起了译者主体性研究的热潮。译者的重要地位不再被忽视。国内外学者纷纷从不同视角诸如多元系统理论、操纵学派、阐释学、解构主义、女性主义、后殖民主义等论述译者主体性存在的客观性及相关原则。可见,有关译者主体性的研究已经取得丰硕成果。但是在涉及文学翻译活动的主体时,译者心理问题和人格问题,尤其是译者的人格倾向性和人格特征等因素仍缺乏系统的研究,即使涉及心理因素的译者主体性研究也仅限于需要——动机,情绪——情感,知觉——无意识等因素,而这些仅仅属于人格——主体中的子系统。本文尝试从人格心理学角度研究译者主体性,探讨译者主体性对翻译产生影响的人格原因及人格心理因素对译者主体性的具体作用,进而从高级心理活动层面上揭示译者发挥主体性的内部机制。首先作者阐述了主体与主体性的内涵,并尝试在人格心理学视角下给译者主体性下定义,同时回顾了译者主体性由隐身到可见的历史变迁以及不同视角下的译者主体性的相关论述。接着文章通过分析人格理论及译者主体性与人格的密切关系,证明人格心理学可以应用于译者主体性的研究,并进一步揭示译者主体性存在的客观必然性以及人格因素对译者主体性的具体作用和影响。林语堂译著《浮生六记》个案分析部分,讨论了林语堂的文化人格对其文本选择的影响,其需要、动机与跨文化能力对翻译策略与翻译方法选择的制约,及其气质、性格对翻译风格形成的作用。最后作者指出作为行为和心理活动的组织者,人格的存在决定了译者主体性存在的客观性。影响译者主体性的人格因素主要包括译者的人格倾向性(需要与动机)、人格特征(能力、气质、性格)以及文化人格(信仰人格、理想人格、审美人格、道德人格)。它们共同作用于文本选择、翻译策略与翻译方法选择及其翻译风格的形成。也只有站在人格的高度,我们才能更科学地评价翻译作品。
