从功能翻译理论看体育赛事中文讲话稿英译

论文摘要

如今,中国进入了一个全新的繁荣时期,体育运动对中国社会的发展也发挥了越来越重要的作用。体育赛事成为中国与世界交流,展示自身文化和国力的窗口。为了能让国际体育组织的官员和参与体育运动的选手更了解中国的体育赛事,中方在体育赛事期间各种场合的发言讲话无疑是宣传推广中国体育赛事的有效途径。因此,有必要对体育赛事讲话稿的汉英翻译进行研究。然而,现存的与体育有关的英汉翻译研究对体育赛事讲话稿翻译探讨尚不充分。本文从功能翻译理论角度出发,深入探讨体育赛事讲话稿的汉英翻译,以期补充加强这一领域的研究。本文采用功能翻译理论和诺德提出的文本分析模式,对中文体育赛事讲话稿和英文体育赛事讲话稿分别从文外因素和文内因素两方面进行对比,得出各自在文外因素和文内因素上的特点并比较其异同。根据功能翻译理论提出的译入语文化和译文交际目的决定翻译策略的理论,通过分析对照英文体育赛事讲话稿特点和目的,以若干中文体育赛事讲话稿的英译范例进行翻译评价和修改,提出中文体育赛事讲话稿英译的翻译策略。本文的结论指出:中文体育赛事讲话稿内容上侧重描述体育赛事举行的大环境,介绍主办和承办单位情况等,结构上松散随意,语言上多使用变换主语的长句和烘托气氛、富含文化特色的词汇。而英文体育赛事讲话稿相对语言简洁平实,内容上侧重介绍体育赛事本身特点如赛事主题和意义,结构紧凑有序。所以翻译策略是:省译详细介绍主办单位和承办,赞助单位的发展,政府态度等内容,中文句式转换成英文三种典型的句式,省译用于烘托气氛,修饰过度或重复的词汇,简译富有文化含义的词汇等,使其在译文中发挥其相应的功能,实现预定的翻译目的。
