从接受理论视角看《论语》的翻译

论文摘要

《论语》是记载孔子思想的重要儒家经典,是世界上最具影响力的经典书籍之一。该书内容博大精深,涉及伦理道德、政治、哲学、文学、教育等多方面,对中国的文化产生了极其深刻的影响。因此该书吸引了众多学者的翻译和诠释。基于上述事实,作者对《论语》的翻译产生了巨大的研究兴趣。在本文中,作者试图从接受理论的视角对这一部中国典籍的英译进行比较研究。作者选取了《论语》在不同时期的三个英译本,从接受理论的角度出发比较不同译本对《论语》的不同诠释,并进一步探讨不同翻译背后的原因。全文共五章。第一章介绍本文的研究背景,研究问题,研究方法以及研究的意义。第二章提出了接受理论,并介绍其主要两个概念“期待视野”和“未定性”,同时还分析了这两个概念对于文学翻译研究的借鉴意义。第三章对孔子、《论语》和《论语》主要的英译本进行了回顾,并介绍了目前为止对《论语》翻译所作的主要研究。在第四章中,作者先介绍了论文中研究的三位译者及其作品的情况。然后,作者运用接受理论对三个英译本进行比较研究。第五章是对本文所做研究的总结并提出进一步研究的设想。本文对《论语》的三个跨世纪的英译本进行了比较研究,目的不在于评价孰优孰劣,而在于探讨《论语》出现众多不同译本的原因。文章认为,《论语》像一个无比丰富的矿藏,并非通过一次性的阐释就能穷尽对它的发掘。而且,一个译本不可能同时满足不同历史阶段不同读者的需求。只有通过多个译本多次的发掘,我们才能不断接近完成对它的认识。
