对英语专业教材中词汇和练习设置的一项调查研究

词汇习得作为二语习得的一个研究重点,近年来也在不断引起国内外专家学者的兴趣并取得了丰硕的研究成果。目前国内对二语词汇的研究主要集中在词汇学习与教学,词汇使用,词汇自身特点等方面。对词汇教与学的媒介之一,教材的编写方面,尤其是词汇的处理和词汇练习设置方面的研究较为鲜见。本研究基于各个年代不同的语言学和教学法理论以及束定芳和庄智象(1996)对于外语词汇教学的原则,即系统原则、交际原则、文化原则、认知原则、情感原则,对五十年代以来出版的英语专业教材进行定性定量分析,试图找到以下问题的答案:1)各个年代的教材词汇和练习设置都受到了什么样的教学理论或教学法的影响;2)教材在词汇方面的编写和设计应遵循什么样的原则,已有的教材在处理这些原则上有什么变化。对二十世纪五十年代以来编写的教材的调查研究表明,各个年代教材的编写都受到了不同的语言理论和教学法的影响,对语言和语言学习的认识不同,教材的安排,练习的设计都有很大的区别。词汇和练习的编写都在走向综合发展的道理,但是综合性仍然不足。教材词汇和练习的编写越来越多地考虑到系统原则和交际原则;在对文化原则的理解上发生了变化,在认知原则的处理上初露头角,几乎没有考虑到情感原则。词汇发展方面的练习还不够,形式多样性不足,词汇学习策略没有融入进去,练习缺乏趣味性;练习的形式和内容都还需要改善。因此,今后的教材在词汇和练习方面的设置应更多地考虑到词汇练习的综合性,充分考虑各项词汇练习原则的应用。本研究的结果在理论、研究方法和实际运用上都有重要的意义,为今后英语专业教材的词汇和练习方面的编写提供了一些改进的依据,对今后教材的编写有一定的启发。
