英文就职演讲稿中副词修饰语的研究

Abstract:Inauguralspeechisakindofpoliticalspeech,andaimingtoreachacertainpoliticalpurpose,thespeakercompetesaparticularofficeoracertainworkbythewayofself-promotion.Inauguralspeechrequiresthatspeakersshouldpossessgoodpsychologicalqualityandhigherlanguagelevel.Therefore,inauguralspeechnotonlyexpressesthereality,butalsohasastrongappeal,inwhichthequalifiersundoubtedlyplayavitalroleamongallmeansofgrammar.Throughtheanalysisofsevenclassicalinauguralspeechesandlistinghistograms,thisthesisanalyzesthefrequencyofusingadverbsintheinauguralspeech.

1.Introduction

Theprimaryfunctionoftheinauguralspeechistoimplementtheself-promotionbythewayofarguingbyreasoning.Asanactiveandcontagiousinauguralspeech,theresearchoncharacteristicsofitslanguageanalysispilesoutoneafteranother,relativelyspeaking,theresearchonacertainpartofspeechintheinauguralspeechhasreceivedenoughattention.ThecorpusofthispaperisselectedfromU.S.president’sinauguralspeechofallpreviousyears.Intermsofthefrequencyoftheuseofadverbmodifiersofeightcategories,thispaperliststhehistogramstoanalyzeandcomparethemostfrequentuseofthecertaintypeofadverbs.

2.theapplicationofadverbmodifiersinInauguralspeech

2.1thefrequencyofuseofeightcategoriesofadverbmodifiersininauguralspeech

Fromthelistedgraph,itcanbeseenthatthemanneradverbs,stressedadverbsanddegreeadverbsarefrequentlyusedthanotheradverbsintheinauguralspeech.First,intheinauguralspeech,mannerverbsarethemostfrequentlyused,andtherateofitsaverageutilizationreachesmorethan30%,evenupto40%,significantlyhigherthanotheradverbs.Second,therateofitsaverageutilizationofstressedanddegreeadverbsarealsomorethan20%,upto36%.

2.2thepragmaticfunctionsofadverbmodifiersininauguralspeech

Theaboveanalysisstatesclearlythatwiththeadverbs,avividspeechisinterpreted,resultingthatthespeakerreaditoutwithapowerfultone,andtheaudiencealsocouldquicklyandefficientlyunderstandthespeaker'spurposeandattitude.Here,thisthesismainlyanalyzesthepragmaticfunctionsofthemanneradverbsanddegreeadverbsintheinauguralspeech.

2.2.1manneradverbsininauguralspeech

Thefunctionofinauguralspeechistoallowtheaudiencetounderstandandsupportthespeaker'spoliticalviews,politicalideasandself-promotion.Reflectedinthestyle,theinauguralspeechmustbeaccurateandconcise,popularandvivid.Generallyspeaking,speechtimeshouldbecontrolledwithin10minutesorless.Oppositetosomelongerclause,pre-modifiers,andpost-modifiers,manneradverbsoccupylessspace,andareprovidedwiththefunctionofconcentratinginformation,whichismoreconsistentwithprinciplesthatinauguralspeechbefollowedinspaceandtime.

2.2.2thedegreeadverbsininauguralspeech

Inauguralspeechisoneofthewaystoexpresscandidates’politicalideaandpoliticalaspiration,anditisatooltoexchangeideas,expressemotions,andtransmitinformation.Therefore,itisessentialtoimprovethequalityofspeechandmaintaintheaccuracyofthelanguage.ThelanguageusedinSpeechmustbeprecisesoastoclearlydemonstratethefactsandthethought.Degreeadverbsandstressedadverbsmean"tosomedegree",usedinthetext,andundoubtedlyenhancetheaccuracyandauthenticityofspeeches.

3、Conclusion

Fromtheaboveanalysis,itcanbeseenthatadverbactsasasignificantroleinconcentratinginformation,savingspace,enhancingtone,andincreasingthevividnessandaccuracyofthestatement,atthesametime,hitsoffthecharacteristicsofinauguralspeech,thatis,agitation,authenticity,andsimplicity.Properuseofadverbsisbeneficialtointensifyingthethemeofspeech,deepeningtheexpressionofthestatement,andsettingofftheatmosphere,whichmoreaccuratelyandprofoundexpressesthespeaker’sattitudesandemotions,andcausestheaudience'ssympathy,soastoachievethepurposesofinauguralspeech,thatistoimplementtheself-promotion.
