新词出现,旧词消亡,这是语言发展的自然规律。随着我国改革开放的不断深入,政治、经济、科技、教育、生活等各个领域发生了翻天覆地的变化,新词如雨后春笋般涌入人民大众的视野,成为广大翻译学者研究的新焦点。本文研究的新词范围是指改革开放以来反映社会生活各方面所出现的新现象、新事物、新思想、新潮流、新政策等所创造的新词语或赋以新意的旧词汇,这往往依靠特定语境产生并存活下来。因此,产生的背景、来源都对其内涵意义产生影响。新词往往最能反应社会的发展方向,新闻新词的翻译便成了世界了解中国的窗口。国内专家学者对于新词英译的研究在不断深入,并尝试从多个角度研究汉语新闻新词的翻译,比如功能主义、关联理论以及传播学角度等。近年来,又有学者将互文性从文学领域引进翻译领域,成为一种更为有效、新颖且具有创造性的翻译方法。互文性理论源于法国符号学家克里斯蒂瓦。她指出每个文本好像众多引语一样的马赛克拼嵌起来的,每个文本都是其他文本的吸收和转化,是不同的文本之间的相互引用和吸纳。互文性理论还认为文本是未完成的作品,新闻新词作为一个文本对象,也具有未完成性。因此,新闻新词所具有的互文性对进行翻译的译者提出了更高的要求。从互文性角度来看,译者具有更大的发挥空间,并可以充分利用这些空间提高翻译质量。本文试图以互文性为理论框架,对汉语新闻新词的构成与翻译进行了研究。首先,作者从互文性角度文本对象——汉语新闻新词进行分析,阐述新词的形成、来源以及语言文化方面的特点,然后对译者为主体的翻译过程进行互文性分析,最后根据哈提姆和梅森的翻译模式,研讨了对汉语新闻新词所用的一些主要英译策略。
