随着我国改革开放,加入WTO,中国旅游业取得了飞速的发展。2008年北京奥运会的举行,将给我国旅游业带来新的繁荣。频繁的旅游活动吸引着越来越多的国际游客,鼓励来自不同文化背景的人进行跨文化交际活动,增加了中国与世界各国的交往。同时,我国旅游业的发展也给旅游资料的英译提出了更高的要求。如何提高旅游资料英译的质量,特别是文化特点突出的景点介绍的英译更是一个亟待解决的问题。因此,本文针对由译文目的不明确引起的翻译错误,从功能主义目的论的角度对景点介绍文本的英译进行尝试性研究,旨在目的论指导下找到比较理想的翻译策略、原则和方法,从而提高景点介绍英译质量。建立在行为理论基础上的功能目的论认为翻译活动皆有目的,不同的翻译策略应由不同的翻译目的和交际功能决定。该理论从翻译目的出发,注重翻译文本的功能性,同时也强调了原文分析的必要性,为各类实用性文体的翻译提供了很好的理论基础。本文采用定性研究的方法对景点介绍文本的英译进行研究。文章以功能目的论和文本类型论为导向,在对中英景点介绍对比分析基础上结合诺德提出的两种翻译类型进行探讨,最后得出研究结论。作为一种交际性较强的实用性文体,景点介绍以呼唤功能为其主导。同时,景点介绍所体现出的浓重文化色彩又影响着目的接收者的接受程度。因此,在翻译过程中,我们应以译文的交际目的为向导,在总的翻译策略和原则指导下灵活运用多种翻译方法,以期最大程度地实现译文的预期功能。
