目的语文化与译者主体性 ——以林语堂译《浮生六记》为例

著名作家、翻译家林语堂先生以其深厚的英汉双语、双文化功底在翻译领域取得巨大成就,对中西文化交流尤其是把中国文化介绍给西方世界做出了突出贡献。然而,多年来,他的译著在中国翻译界并未得到应有的关注,对其译著的研究更是不够。在他诸多译著中,享誉最盛的是其代表译作《浮生六记》。近年来,不少学者对该译著从不同角度进行了研究,但是,这些研究关注的主要是林氏的翻译策略和方法以及译者主体性在译著中的体现,尚未涉及到影响译者主体性发挥的因素。为此,本文以文化研究和译者主体性研究的现代理论为理论基础,以系统抽样为研究方法,从对句子结构的调整和修辞手段的处理两个方面分析《浮生六记》林译本中的翻译策略与方法,找出目的语文化影响译者主体性发挥的具体表现。文章包括五个部分。首先,阐述了本文研究的背景、目的与方法以及文章结构。其次,综述了林语堂先生其人及其译作《浮生六记》的研究现状,取得的成就和存在的不足。然后以尤金·奈达的文化分类为基础,从理论上阐述目的语文化对译者主体性的影响。主要分析目的语文化和译者主体性的内涵、翻译中涉及的文化因素以及目的语文化影响译者主体性发挥的具体表现。在此基础上,采用系统抽样的方法,分析林译《浮生六记》中翻译策略的采用及译文的写作特点,着重探讨林语堂先生在译文中对句子结构的调整和修辞手法的处理并分析其原因,认为:由于受英语特定的语法和修辞的影响,林语堂先生主要采用了归化的翻译策略。这种翻译策略主要体现在两个方面:(一)、采用增词法、省略法、合译法、分译法和词序调换等具体翻译技巧对原文句子结构做出了很大调整以使其符合英语语法规范,从而符合目的读者的阅读习惯。(二)、在修辞手法的处理上,保留原文中部分修辞手段的同时,采用省略、替代以及增译等方法对原文修辞进行删除、替换或增加原文中没有的修辞。最后是结论。
