从目的论谈环保公示语的翻译

论文摘要

环境问题自然成为一个很热门的话题,它影响人们生活的方方面面。有关环保的公示语随处可见,英译环保公示语是对外宣传的一个重要部分,它既是外国人了解中国的一个窗口,又是一张张“城市名片”。作者游览了许多地方,收集了景区内和很多公共场所的有关环保的公示语的英译,发现目前中国城市的公示语英译有一些难尽人意的地方:如拼写错误、用词不当、语法错误,句式臃肿,洋泾浜等,既不能有效地指导人们去保护好环境,又有损我国的形象。我们必须予以足够关注。根据目的论,翻译目的决定翻译过程,以此目的确立自己的翻译方法。译文的目标读者在决定翻译目的的过程中起了重要的作用,我们在翻译过程中要始终以环保公示语的功能为中心,从外国友人的接受程度为出发点,让公示语译文在外国友人中起到应有的作用。作者提出环保公示语翻译的三个标准:以读者为中心,准确,简洁。结合三个标准提出了一些翻译策略和方法如:借译,改译,意译,直译,多用名词短语等等。
