从关联理论视角看英语阅读中新奇隐喻的理解

语言中充斥着大量的隐喻。在当代语言学中,隐喻被认为是一种思维方式。阅读作为一种认知活动充满了隐喻,包括常规隐喻和新奇隐喻。在英语阅读的过程中,中国的英语学习者会不可避免地频繁地接触到大量的隐喻。传统的隐喻(如“时间是金钱”)对于中国学生而言并不是很难,所以本研究着力于探索新奇隐喻(如“家庭主妇是蔬菜”)的认知过程。本文用认知语用学的基础——Sperber & Wilson提出的关联理论作为总的理论框架,认为新奇隐喻的理解过程从本质上来说就是一个寻找关联的过程。本文用关联理论详细讨论了英语阅读中新奇隐喻的理解机制,并提出了一个以关联为中心的隐喻理解模式。为了调查中国学生对于新奇隐喻的理解困难,本文展开了一项相关的调查研究。根据研究结果,文章得出结论:中国学生对新奇隐喻的理解确实存在困难。根据对数据的分析,本文对英语阅读中新奇隐喻的教学提出了一些建议,即对学生隐喻能力和文化意识的培养。
